ARTWORK

Generally, we think of ransom notes as figuring out what to write and then cutting out letters to give it that “ransom note” look. But this is “free-association” poetry—cutting out random sentences, phrases, or single words from various magazines, spreading them haphazardly on a large table, and then letting the mind go to work, connecting a phrase here, a word there, until something fun, interesting, even poetic is created! You could say it’s an embrace of chaos and rationality, or simply, turning chaos into harmony. Combined with my art work, which is hand-made from construction paper and artist materials (nothing is photo-shopped!), the overall aesthetic of the art work is consistent with the organic feel of the free association poetry. The sentiment gives a poetic heartfelt touch for that specific someone, with a little piece of art to go along with it.
